What Every Room in Your Home Needs More Of

Each room of your home has a unique purpose and design. Yet, some design features can be used to enhance the décor of any room in your house. All rooms need eye-catching color, mood-setting lighting, and space that makes everyone feel at home.

Some Color

Classic neutral shades work anywhere, whether it’s a kitchen, living room, or bedroom. When used for floors, walls, and fixtures, colors such as gray, white, cream, and beige provide a background palette that easily allows you to change your room’s theme and keep up with the latest styles.

Even so, every room needs a touch of a brighter color , whether it’s relaxing shades of blue and green or more exciting reds, yellows, and oranges. To add color, consider painting an accent wall or creating a focal point with a brightly-colored couch or chair. Throw pillows, rugs, and art pieces can also bring color into an otherwise drab room.

More Light

The right light can create whatever mood you desire. In living rooms and bedrooms, you’ll want to keep lights dim and relaxing by using low-watt light bulbs and screening out sun or street lights with window shades or blinds.

In kitchens and bathrooms, brighter lights are needed for activity and energy. Use LED bulbs and keep window coverings wide open to take advantage of natural light. In the bathroom, direct the light toward the vanity for maximum usefulness and to reduce shadows. Even small touches such as using shower doors rather than curtains can make the room lighter. Glass shower doors help light flow into your bathroom.

More Space

Rooms don’t have to be large to be spacious. Even in smaller rooms, you can create the illusion of space by reducing clutter and keeping furnishings to a minimum.

Store loose items in cabinets, drawers, and enclosed shelves to prevent the room from feeling messy. Also, consider reducing the number of wall hangings or knick-knacks, and keep furnishings light. If every square inch of the room is covered, it can make guests feel stressed.

Whatever your home is like, you can improve the appearance and mood of all your rooms with just a few changes. Even if you don’t wish to remodel or redecorate, or if you don’t have a big budget, you can give every room a facelift by adding just a few simple touches.
