How to Make Moving Organized and Efficient

Multifuse Team • Sep 24, 2020

Moving can be incredibly stressful. From repainting and re-carpeting to fixing the garage door opener, there’s a lot to get done. However, if you take the time to stay organized, it will be much less stressful in the end. Here are a few ways to help you keep your sanity during a stressful move.

Don’t Take What You Don’t Need

While packing can be a very stressful and time-consuming process, it’s also a great time to get rid of things that you don’t need or want anymore. Getting to get rid of the clutter and your kid’s math homework the dog half chewed up eight years ago is probably a long overdue event for you. Not only will cutting down on the unnecessary things help you take less time to pack, but it will be easier to find the things you need and be easier to move.

Keep a Binder

Creating a moving binder with all the tasks you need to complete is an easy way to stay organized and efficient. While it may seem unnecessary, there are some financial benefits to keeping a binder with information about your move. You might be able to write moving expenses off your taxes if you keep good records. Who doesn’t love saving money? If you can find any way to save money in a move, it’s worth a shot.

Create a Labeling System

When you’re getting ready to pack and move your belongings to your new home, make sure to have an effective labeling system to help you stay organized. Color coding with stickers is a great way to make sure that all the boxes get to the right room. You can do different shaped stickers for sections of the room. For example, you could use blue stars for things from your desk and the blue circles for the books off of your bookshelf. Labeling systems will save your life when it comes to packing up your kitchen. Instead of searching nineteen different boxes before you find a fork, you’ll be able to check the labels and find it in the first box.

It’s important to make sure that when you’re moving you keep your stress level to a minimum. Reducing the amount that you take to your new home and keeping records are just a few ways you can have a successful move without all the stress.
